Bible tale: Adam, Eve, and Serpent

Adam, Eve, & Serpent
from Genesis 2 to 3

• Story Highlights:
  * After putting Adam to sleep, God created the First Woman, Eve, from one of his ribs.
  * The devil, disguised as a Serpent, convinced Eve she would not die if she ate from forbidden tree.
  * Both Eve and Adam broke God's 1 rule by eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Narrator #1: After Adam gave all the animals names, he might have thought:

ADAM: No fair! Every male animal has a female companion. Why am I so alone?

Narrator #2: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit were probably thinking the very same thing. Perhaps Jesus said:






















JESUS: Father, how do You plan to create a wife for Adam?

Father God: That is a good question, Jesus. After I put Adam into a deep sleep, I will safely remove one of his ribs. I will use that rib to create the first woman.

JESUS: Great idea, Father! By the way, what will you call this first woman?

Father God: She will be called Eve which means the mother of all living.

Narrator #1: When Adam woke up, he saw the woman who would become his wife. After a full explanation to Adam, Jesus might have said:

JESUS: Adam, behold Eve. She will become your wife.

EVE: I am happy to meet you, Adam!

ADAM: Eve, I am happy you are here!

Narrator #2: Genesis 2 ends in a very surprising way. It reveals that both Adam and Eve were naked, but they were not embarrassed or ashamed. … Not yet, anyway!

Narrator #1: "Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made." If we had to guess, Satan probably entered the snake's body and was the one who was really doing the talking.

Narrator #2: For as you know, except for parrots and a future Bible story about a talking donkey, most animals are not able to actually talk. This trickster of a Serpent said:










SERPENT: Eve, did God really say that you must not eat from any tree in the garden?

EVE: Uh, ..., we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say that if we touch or eat from that tree in the very middle of the garden, we will die.







SERPENT: Eve, that is not true. You will not die. In fact, I will tell you a secret. God knows that when you eat fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, your eyes will be opened. In fact, you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

EVE: Really? Oh, my! Well, that fruit does look very shiny and delicious. And it would be wonderful to be wise. Did you hear that, Adam?

Narrator #1: This was Adam's chance to take a leadership role by saying no. But instead, he played the role of a follower. Adam said:

ADAM: Are you sure you want to do this, Eve?

EVE: Of course, I'm sure! That fruit looks yummy; plus, it will make us wise.

Narrator #2: Eve reached out to that forbidden tree, picked the fruit, and took a bite. Not wanting to be the only rule-breaker, she handed the fruit to Adam so he could also take a bite.
































































Narrator #1: Instead of dying, the eyes of both Eve and Adam were suddenly opened. Eve exclaimed:

EVE: Oh, no! Adam, I just realized that you are naked.

ADAM: Eve, I'm not the only one. You are naked, too. How embarrassing! Let us quickly sew some fig leaves together to cover ourselves.

Narrator #2: Afterward, Adam and Eve heard Father God walking in the garden. Uh-oh! They felt scared and ashamed. Quickly, they ducked down behind some bushes. God called out:

Father God: Adam, where are you?

Narrator #1: Of course, God can see and hear everything. Adam and Eve slowly stood up. Their hearts were likely pounding in fright. Adam said:

ADAM: God, I heard you in the garden. I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.

Father God: Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?

Narrator #2: Then, Adam began to play that 'BLAME-GAME' by blaming both Eve and Father God.

ADAM: The woman YOU put here with me - SHE gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.

Father God: Eve, what is this you have done?

Narrator #1: Eve also played the 'BLAME-GAME’ by pointing to the Serpent.

EVE: The serpent deceived me, and I ate.

Father God: Serpent, because you have done this, you are cursed above all livestock and all wild animals. You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.

SERPENT: Oh, no! Father God has cursed me! What will happen to me now?

Narrator #2: Next week, we will find out more about the curse that happened to the serpent and the harsh consequences Adam and Eve had to endure.

Narrator #1: END OF SKIT. Let’s give our volunteers a great big hand!
