Creation Story
from Genesis 1:1-31 & Genesis 2:1-3

Story Highlights:
* God created the earth in 6 days.
* This illustrated creation story describes what God did on each of the 6 days.
* God rested on the 7th day & declared it to be HOLY.
Here is an illustration that will represent God.
-
1. We have God the Father.
-
2. God the Son. Who is that? Jesus.
-
3. and God the Holy Spirit.
We sometimes call this the Trinity. God made up of 3 persons. Who are the 3 persons?
-
1. Almighty God.
-
2. Jesus - God's only begotten Son.
-
3. And the Holy Spirit who lives inside of all people who are SAVED.
DAY 1 OF THE 6-DAY CREATION
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, on that 1st day, God created the heavens and the earth.
As you see,
Genesis 1:2A The earth was without form, and void.
It was empty.
And darkness was on the face of the deep.
Genesis 1:2B And the Spirit of God moved and hovered over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light.”
Just like that, like flicking on a light switch in a dark room, ...
there was light.
Genesis 1:4A And God saw the light that He had created. God declared: "IT WAS GOOD."
Genesis 1:4B And God divided the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:5A God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.
Genesis 1:5B So the evening and the morning were the first day.
DAY 2 OF THE 6-DAY CREATION
On the 2nd day
Genesis 1:6A God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters.”
Question: By looking at the picture, does anybody know what a FIRMAMENT is?
Answer: The sky.
Genesis 1:6B-7 God used that FIRMAMENT, THE SKY, to divide the waters under the sky from the waters above the firmament.
Question: What are the waters below the firmament?
Answer: The sea.
Question: What are the waters above the firmament?
Answer: The rain - clouds. Rain clouds.
Genesis 1:8A And God called the firmament Heaven.
Genesis 1:8B And God declared: "IT WAS GOOD."
Genesis 1:8C So the evening and the morning were the 2nd day.
DAY 3 OF THE 6-DAY CREATION
On the 3rd day,
Genesis 1:9 God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.
Genesis 1:10A And God called the dry land LAND or EARTH and the gathering together of the waters He called SEAS.
Genesis 1:10B And God declared: "IT WAS GOOD."
Also on the 3rd day, Genesis 1:11-12A God created the grass, herbs, flowers, & plants.
Genesis 1:11-12A God also created all kinds of regular seed-bearing trees and all kinds of fruit trees.
Genesis 1:12B And God declared: "IT WAS GOOD."
Genesis 1:13 So the evening and the morning were the 3rd day.
DAY 4 OF THE 6-DAY CREATION
On the 4th day
Genesis 1:14-18A God created the sun, and the moon, and the stars.
Genesis 1:18B And God declared: "IT WAS GOOD."
Genesis 1:19 So the evening and the morning were the 4th day.
DAY 5 OF THE 6-DAY CREATION
On the 5th day
Genesis 1:20A God created all the fish of the seas.
Genesis 1:20B-21 and God created all the birds of the air.
Genesis 1:22 He told them to "Be fruitful and multiply."
Genesis 1:21B And God declared: "IT WAS GOOD."
Genesis 1:23 So the evening and the morning were the 5th day.
DAY 6 OF THE 6-DAY CREATION
On the 6th day
Genesis 1:24-25A God created the cattle. That included sheep and goats and so forth.
God created the creeping things that includes all the reptiles and insects and rodents.
God created all the beasts of the earth that includes lynx and bears and tigers.
Genesis 1:25B And God declared: "IT WAS GOOD."
Genesis 1:26A- Also on the 6th day, God created man in His image and likeness. He created male and female. God blessed them and instructed them to be fruitful and multiply.
Genesis 1:26B-28 God gave all humankind dominion over
the fish of the seas
the birds of the air
the cattle
all the creeping things
and all the beasts of the earth.
Genesis 1:29-30 God gave all humankind and all the animals plenty of food to eat. This food included fruits, herbs, nuts, seeds, and grasses. In other words, at that time, all humans and all animals were vegetarians.
Genesis 1:31A And God declared: "IT WAS VERY GOOD!"
Genesis 1:31B So the evening and the morning were the 6th day.
DAY 7 – THE DAY AFTER THE 6-DAY CREATION
Genesis 2:1-2 On the 7th day, since God had finished all the work He had been doing, He rested.
Genesis 2:3 God blessed that 7th day and He made that 7th day to be Holy.
And that is the story of CREATION from Genesis Chapter 1 and the first three verses of Chapter 2.
