Bible role-play begins:
Narrator #1: Check out the Family Tree of our long-ago grandpa and grandma, Adam & Eve.
(See link to page 6 of FREE PDF download below.)
Narrator #2: We only know the
names of their first three of several sons: Cain, Abel, and Seth. They also had
several daughters.
Narrator #1: Abel's name is written in red because his older brother
murdered him.
Narrator #2: Seth was born when
Adam and Eve were 130 years old.
Narrator #1: POST HOLY SPIRIT versus DEVIL PICTURE:
(See link to page 8 of FREE PDF download below.)
Narrator #2: Have you ever seen a
cartoon about a person with an angel on one shoulder urging him to do good
things and a devil on the other shoulder tempting him to do bad things?
Narrator #1: There is some truth to that cartoon. If you are SAVED
and you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit
lives inside you.
Narrator #2: Even if you are not
saved, the Holy Spirit is our conscience voice. He urges us to do all kinds of
good things, like use manners, be kind, help others, be a friend, and choose
Jesus.
Narrator #1: We also deal with our enemy, known as the devil or
Satan. The devil tempts us to sin in all kinds of ways, including hurting
others, bullying others, stealing, telling lies, being violent, destroying, and
killing.
Narrator #2: Adam and Eve
listened to the devil when they ate the forbidden fruit.
Narrator #1: Cain listened to the devil when he murdered Abel.
Narrator #2: Before Abel died, he
listened to the Holy Spirit as he took care to give God his very best baby
lambs as a sacrifice.
Narrator #1: Check out the flood picture.
(See link to page 7 of FREE PDF download below.)
Narrator #2: Noah's Ark and the
flood that covered the entire earth didn't happen until 1,656 years after God
created Adam and Eve.
Narrator #1: Before the flood happened, Cain had several descendants.
So did Seth.
Narrator #2: POST CAIN's FAMILY
CHART:
(See link to page 9 of FREE PDF download below.)
Narrator #1: Let's focus on Cain's family chart first. Cain went off,
married, and built a city that he named after his first son.
Narrator #2: One of Cain's future
grandsons, Lamech [luh-mek], listened to the devil by not only murdering more
than one man, he proudly bragged about it to his two wives.
Narrator #1: His sons did some great things. The Holy Spirit inspired
one to live in tents as he raised livestock. Another one invented pipes and
stringed instruments. His son, by his second wife, forged tools out of bronze
and iron.
Narrator #2: It's too bad all the
rest of Cain's descendants mostly listened to the devil. They earned God's
wrath by doing all manner of sinful things.
Narrator #1: As a result, if they were still alive when Noah finished
building the Ark, every single one of them drowned in that flood.
Narrator #2: POST SETH's FAMILY
CHART:
(See link to page 10 of FREE PDF download below.)
Narrator #1: Now, let's look at Seth's chart.
Narrator #2: Let's get a
volunteer to read Genesis 4, verse 26 about what happened after Seth's first
son was born.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Genesis 4:26 At that time, people began to call on the
name of the Lord. (NIV)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Narrator #1: In other words, Seth and his descendants mostly listened
to the Holy Spirit and not the devil.
Narrator #2: Three cool things
happened after that.
Narrator #1: First, Seth's future grandson was named Enoch. He was a
very righteous man who only listened to the Holy Spirit.
Narrator #2: God was so pleased
with Enoch's good deeds that he greatly rewarded him. What was that reward?
Narrator #1: Enoch disappeared from the earth when he was 365 years old to live in Heaven with God. In other words, he was one of very few people who never had to taste death.
Narrator #2: The second cool
thing was what happened to Enoch's son. His name was Methuselah
[muh-thoo-suh-luh]. He lived longer than any man has ever lived on this earth.
Narrator #1: He didn't quite make it to 1,000 years old, but he did
make it to 969 years old.
Narrator #2: The third and final
cool thing that happened was Methuselah had a son named Lamech and a grandson
named Noah.
Narrator #1: Noah's dad died 5 years before the flood. As for
Methuselah, he died the same year as the flood.
Narrator #2: Next week, we will
hear much more about Noah's Ark and the giant flood.
END OF SKIT. Let’s give our volunteers a great big hand!
