Noah part 1 of 6
Genesis 5:32 to 6:22
re-told by Debbie Dunn
Story highlights:
* Noah’s wife gave birth to Japheth-Shem-Ham when Noah was 500
* God gave Noah 100 years to build ark before worldwide flood.
* Noah’s Ark and worldwide flood took place 1,656 years after birth of Adam.
Bible role-play begins:
Narrator #1: Some good things and some terrifying things happened to
Noah around the time he turned 500.
Narrator #2: Three of the good
things that happened was that Noah's wife gave birth to three sons: Shem, Ham,
and Japheth [ja-fuhth].
Father God: Noah, you have found favor in my sight. Just like your great grandfather Enoch, I declare that you are a righteous man. I will reward you for being blameless, innocent, and guilt-free.
Narrator #1: Wow! That must have made Noah feel very happy to know
his good words and actions pleased Father God.
Narrator #2: Then Father God said
something puzzling and so scary that the little hairs must have raised on
Noah's arms. His heart must have beat extra fast in fear.
Father God: Noah, my people have allowed the devil to tempt them into doing nothing but sin. Only you are free of blame. As for the rest, they are deserving of my wrath.
Narrator #1: Noah might have stuttered as he said, "Oh-oh-oh,
no! Th-th-that is awful! Wh-wh-what is going to happen?"
Narrator #2: Full of sorrow,
Father God softly said:
Father God: Noah, I regret that I created human beings. They have spiraled out of control into nothing but wickedness.
Narrator #1: Hearing this, Noah might have found tears pooling in his
eyes. His legs might have even felt so weak that he fell to his knees when
Father God stated:
Father God: I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds, and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.
Narrator #2: Fearfully, Noah
might have said, "Father God, I thought you were going to reward me.
But instead, it sounds like you are going to destroy me and my family."
Father God: Be at peace, Noah! You and your family will be safe. As for the rest, I am going to put an end to every single one of these violent and corrupt people.
Narrator #1: Oh, no! How was Father God planning to destroy them?
Just listen to what Father God says next:
Father God: Noah, I will give you 100 years to build a giant boat called an ark. You will need this because a massive flood will cover the entire earth.
Narrator #2: Noah might have been
very confused since he had never witnessed anything like that before.
Narrator #1: Noah might have said: "Father God, other than an
inch or two of rain we get on stormy days, I have trouble picturing a giant
flood."
Narrator #2: Noah might have
reminded himself that Father God could do anything.
Narrator #1: So, Noah declared, "Of course, I know all things
are possible to the one who created the entire earth and everything in it."
Narrator #2: Then, Noah might
have said, "Uh, …, Father God, you know I have never built a boat
before? How will I do it? "
Father God: Don't worry, Noah! I will tell you everything you need to know about how to make it big and safe enough to house you, your wife, your three sons, the women they marry, and a male and female of every kind of animal.
Narrator #1: In the fall of 2024, you probably saw videos of the
floods that swept away houses, buildings, cars, trucks, people, and animals in
Western North Carolina.
Narrator #2: Now multiply that
horrible flood by a thousand.
Narrator #1: When Noah turned 600, the flood would be so deep that it
would cover the tallest trees and the highest mountains.
Narrator #2: That was the
terrifying fate that would happen to all those who refused to follow God's
directions.
Narrator #1: Sadly, these people allowed the devil to tempt them into
saying and doing nothing but wicked sins.
Narrator #2: Noah might have
tried to get them to repent and change their wicked ways.
Narrator #1: But obviously, that did not happen.
Narrator #2: Next week, we will
hear about this massive flood that covered the earth when our long-ago Grandpa
Noah was 600 years old.
END OF SKIT. Let’s give our volunteers a great big hand!
