Bible tale begins:

While Jesus, who is the Son of God, lived a 33-year-life as a man, He raised 3 people from the dead.

RINGLEADER: Tell us about the first healing!

Group repeats

A young man died from the town of Nain. His mother was a widow, which means her husband was dead. Jesus felt sorry for her. Why?

Back in those days, if a woman lost both her husband and son, she might become homeless.

RINGLEADER: That’s sad! Also, that’s not fair!

Group repeats

Jesus gently told the woman not to cry. touched the coffin, and said:

JESUS: Young man. I tell you, get up!

His mother must have been so relieved and grateful when her son immediately sat up and began to talk.

RINGLEADER: Hooray for the widow! Hooray for Jesus!

Group repeats

Some townsfolk even said, “God has visited His people today!

This was early in the 3-plus years that Jesus spent teaching and healing. Word began spreading about his miracles.

RINGLEADER: Tell us about the second healing!

Group repeats

In the city of Capernaum [kay-pr-naam], there was a synagogue leader named Jairus.

RINGLEADER: Is a synagogue like a church?

Group repeats

Yes, a synagogue is quite similar to a church.

One day, Jairus’ young daughter became gravely ill. Hoping for a miracle, Jairus ran for Jesus and begged:

JAIRUS: Jesus, my 12-year-old daughter is very sick! Please come to my home and heal her so she can live!

Jesus agreed. But on their way, they heard some bad news.

RINGLEADER: Uh-oh! What was the bad news?

Group repeats

His daughter had died. As people cried and wailed, Jesus calmly said:

JESUS: The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.

RINGLEADER: Was she really just sleeping?

Group repeats

No, she really had died; however, our Jesus can do anything. He entered Jairus' home and brought his precious daughter back to life.

RINGLEADER: Hooray for her parents! Hooray for Jesus!

Group repeats

RINGLEADER: Who else did Jesus raise from the dead?

Group repeats

Not that long before Jesus was crucified, one of his best friends, Lazarus, became deathly ill. His 2 sisters. Martha and Mary sent word.

Sadly, by the time Jesus managed to walk to their small town of Bethany, Lazarus had been dead and lying in a tomb for 4 days.

RINGLEADER: What happened at Lazarus’ tomb?

Group repeats

At the tomb, Mary, one of his 2 sisters, complained:

MARY, SISTER OF LAZARUS: Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.

RINGLEADER: Did her grief make Jesus feel sad?

Group repeats

Yes, it did. In fact, one of the shortest Bible verses ever gives us that answer. John 11:35 states, “Jesus wept.

Jesus looked toward the tomb, which was in a cave, and said:

JESUS: Take away the stone which blocks the entrance.

Martha, his other sister, protested:

MARTHA: But Lord, after 4 days, there will be a bad smell.

That didn’t stop Jesus. He looked up to Heaven and said:

JESUS: Father, I thank You for hearing my prayer like You always do. I said this aloud so these people will know You have sent me.

In a loud voice, Jesus looked toward the tomb and called out:

JESUS: Lazarus, come out!

The people probably gasped when they saw Lazarus exiting the tomb, hands and feet wrapped in linen and face still covered with a cloth.

Jesus told the gathered group:

JESUS: Take off those grave clothes and let him go.

Can you picture the happy family reunion that took place?

RINGLEADER: Hooray for Lazarus! Hooray for Jesus!

Group repeats

That concludes today’s story about the 3 people Jesus raised from death to life.
