During the pandemic, I am taking taste-bud journeys as I self-isolate rather than physical journeys. Here is my adapted recipe for Steamed Cauliflower Hummus. I mostly followed a Keto Connect recipe. As usual, I made a few adjustments. I have included the recipe video that I mostly followed.
Conclusions: I found the hummus to be quite tasty warm as well as straight from the refrigerator. I have also found that it freezes quite nicely. I ate mine on some Green Bean and Onion crackers I had made in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I also used some of the hummus in a lovely pasta dish that I will also include in my blog.
Recipe
- Entire bag frozen Cauliflower Rice
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp paprika
Please note: I have only had hummus a small handful of times; therefore, I cannot really say how close this recipe comes to other types of hummus. I just know that, to my taste buds, this particular recipe for hummus tasted really good. I can even see making it exactly like this again in the future.
Procedure
- Step 1: Add all ingredients to a microwave steamer. Stir well.
- Step 2: Microwave for 10 minutes.
- Step 3: Stir again. Then, plate and serve with bread, crackers, veggie sticks, etc. To my taste buds, the hummus tastes good warm or cold.
- Step 4: Refrigerate or freeze what is not eaten.
In case you're interested, this is where I purchased the Microwave Steamer. It has been a time-saver for some of the recipes I have made. Sadly, I did notice that the price has gone up $6 since I purchased mine. So, it is possible you could get it cheaper elsewhere.
